Aveyond 4: Shadow of the Mist

Boyle Wolfbane wanted to rule the world. He failed. Miserably. Forced into retirement early, Boyle now spends his days arguing with haunted trees and scaring off the occasional knight. At least he still has Fang, his loyal storm wolf. Things could be worse. He could have been born a hero. Features include a sophisticated battle and menu system. There are also many things to squash, burn, and collect. And... You. Will. Laugh. (Unless you are a zombie, in which case, we cannot help you.)

Not going to lie either This games offers great music, detail-filled, colourful backgrounds and well-realized novelistic characters. Aveyond 4 plays like a traditional turn-based RPG, with some twists. I would dearly love to have maps! The differences in character abilities keep combat interesting, while the lack of any real grinding as long as you defeat the enemies you come across rather than avoiding them keeps things moving at Nightmare Realm solid pace. I also have to admit that I have gone online on several occasions to look for help and hints. He'll learn more spells by catching small purple creatures throughout the game. I hate those rpg games that are nothing but one puzzle after another that you have no choice to buy the guide in order to get through them. The levels are fairly easy to get without a ton of grinding. The monsters are visable and slow so it really is your choice on fighting them or not. The soundtrack is The core scenario of "bad guy doing good things" has been done before, but Aveyond 4 pulls it off extremely well thanks to its comedic tone. If you like this type of game then you'll really enjoy Shadow of the Mist. The companions Boyle picks up also all have their own unique talents, like Ingrid, who can brew potions and learn spells by joining different covens. I've played all the Aveyond games, and I absolutely loved this one!

I highly recommend this game. It's funny! Should I add more? I've found a Aveuond of 8 level eggs so far to make that even easier. Not a good buy. Once you're in an Mish you might wander around for a while trying to find your way back out. The gameplay is fairly standard RPG, but is fun. One of the best things about this game is that it is pretty easy to figure out what to do next and it's really not necessary to purchase a strategy Midnight Mysteries: The Salem Witch Trials Strategy Guide.


As for its gameplay, Aveyond 4: Shadow of the Mist, is rock solid all around. Aveyond 4 plays like a traditional turn-based RPG, with some twists. The characters are likable and the dialog is hilarious. Great value for money! Though initially a little slow to start, the game begins to shine once you leave Wyrmwood and pick up mischievous, mercurial mist wraith Myst as a companion. Despite these quibbles, however, Aveyond 4: Shadow of the Mist is easily recommended to just about anyone. Minions don't do a lot of damage, but they can't be targeted by enemies, and they also have special abilities. Boyle is kind of a dork, and that's the point, so his blustering and grandstanding is more endearing than annoying. I love figuring out how the different Aveyond stories connect to eachother. Funny, entertaining, challenging - what more could we want? Hey, how can you not like someone willing to put their dog above everything else? Should I add more? I've played and enjoyed all of the Aveyond games but this has been my favorite. I've never seen one of these Rpg's that you play as a "villain" even one looking for redemption. I also have to admit that I have gone online on several occasions to look for help and hints. I experienced some difficulty in getting the game to open up in full screen. One of the best things about this game is that it is pretty easy to figure out what to do next and it's really not necessary to purchase a strategy guide. Should I add more? I LOVE this game! Plenty of challenge in there. A role-playing game that includes lots of puzzles and hidden objects as well as plenty of good, old-fashioned monster bashing. It's alright. The dialogue is actually funny and the challenges are easy to understand.   2. Aveyond 4: Shadow of the Mist is a wonderfully funny and cheeky indie RPG that's positively perfect for anyone looking for something to kick back with. The dialogue is actually funny and the challenges are easy to understand. I knew I would buy it 5 minutes into my free trial. It's funny! Given how twisty some of the areas are, a map wouldn't have gone amiss, and neither would a sprint button to make running through them a little quicker.

The game is absolutely lovely, with its detailed environments and expressive characters, and makes for bright and eye-catching visuals without going overboard I experienced some difficulty in getting the game to open up in full screen.

  4. I have played all of the Aveyond series and nothing compares to them. I often found that I had to restart my computer to get it to open full-screen. I highly recommend this game. I would dearly love to have maps!

From an audio standpoint, Aveyond 4 has a few minor annoyances, like the scrabbling clack-clack-clack of footsteps that quickly becomes grating, or the tendency to fall completely silent save repetitive ambient loops, that make it hit or miss. During battles, Boyle and his crew will go back and forth exchanging blows with enemies, and if your hit points run out, it's all over.
