Family Tales: The Sisters

Over and over the same nightmare is following you: your sister Anna is trapped in a strange existence, begging you to help her escape. But what if these are not just random nightmares? Worried and stressed, you drive to your parents' house only to find it hollow and cold. As you try to follow the hints and footsteps left by your sister, the distant memories of childhood are conjured around you, and your sister’s story of psychological trauma is revealed. As you make your way through one empty, dilapidated room after another, you realize that the once familiar home of your family is now a terrifying psychiatric asylum, and you have somehow entered another world: the doom reality of the Dark Lord. Will you be able to find your sister and bring her back from this horrible reality? Can you stop the Dark Lord?

This game brings it all to the gaming table. There were sparkles - even on the hardest level, which I do find irritating. I found the game very involving. Storyline was different but interesting. Passable story line, and an okay length. The HO scenes themselves were very unique. The sound isn't great and could be improved, however, no issues with playing it. The game seemed pretty long to me because there was no skipping of minigames and no hints or sparkles. If you want a game with a bit of challenge, then I'd suggest this level. Also, I suggest maybe getting a new monitor or adjusting your monitor settings if you aren't able to see darker objects. I played it at medium difficulty and had no issues.

I was expecting a medicore HO adventure because of the relatively low star rating, so I chose to play Pro - and was pleasantly surprised. The game is in some ways pretty simple - no voice overs, no map - but I never found I needed a map since the game was pretty straightforward. Very little logic in what should be the next step. You needed to use 2 items or more to complete one object on the list. Only had to use the Hint once. Overall I really enjoyed this game, especially the level of challenge of some of the puzzles. The overuse of voices and cutscenes seems to be the current trend - with the newer games it seems that everything you touch sets off some kind of a mini movie or boring dialogue that is sometimes actually quite disruptive.
